Fill Up On Fiber!

What can you eat more of that will promote fullness all while keeping calories in check? Fiber rich foods of course!

What does fiber do?

* Slows digestion and delays stomach emptying. This will help hold you over longer. Fiber = Filling!

* Sends the message to specific intestinal hormones to reduce the feeling of those hunger pangs.

How much fiber do I need to eat?

* Females should aim to consume 25 grams per day while males should aim for 38 grams per day.

Where do I find fiber?

* Fruits, vegetables, beans/legumes, nuts and whole grains.

Try to “volumize” your meals. Add plenty of high fiber, low calorie fruits and veggies into meals and snacks. Skip the starchy sides like chips, crackers and pretzels. Guaranteed you will stay satisfied longer. One thing to keep in mind when adding more fiber into your diet, is to drink enough water. Fiber adds bulk to stool and adequately hydrating will keep things moving!
